'Little' Arsenal big in the Citeh |
A 'select' Arsenal team made up mainly of our
youngsters or reserves, gave Manchester Citeh the
beating of their lives.. ok so it was 2-1 courstesy
of goals from Lord Van Dick Van Dyke Van Persie and
the nephew of the 'good guy-bad guy' Lando Calrissian
from Star Wars, Daniel Karbassiyoon.
It was mostly a tepid affair early doors, showing
more signs of a testimonial than a cup game. However
when The 'Little' Arsenal captained by 'Le Oak Tree'
Cygan eventually sussed that Manchester Citeh didnt
have much to offer in terms of effort or pressure
- they began to be more composed and confident. Especially
with the introduction of Dr Quincey (Owusu-Abeyie)
The Arsenal took the game to Citeh.
Our old nemesis Robbie 'I'm just playing out the remainder
of my career' Fowler had the last say with the last
kick of the game with a freekick- grabbing his 200th
career goal into the bargain. The
official match report
the team:
Manuel Almunia, Justin Hoyte, Pascal Cygan, Philippe
Senderos, Sebastian Larsson, Jermaine Pennant (Johan
Djourou 89), Mathieu Flamini, Cesc Fabregas
Ryan Smith (Quincy Owusu Abeyie 61), Robin Van Persie,
Arturo Lupoli (Daniel Karbassiyoon 82) |
It's the Toffeemen in the next round
|
After all the games on Wednesday night the draw
was made by two ex-Arsenal players, Brian Marwood
and Niall Quinn. The draw threw up a home tie this
time against the thieving scousers of Everton, with
the tie of the round being the match between Newcastle
and Chelski. Meanwhile Manure have a nice easy tie
against Chrystal Palace. The 'Little' Arsenal versus
Everton game wlll take place on Tuesday, November
9th 2004, kick-off: 7.45pm. |
